Once upon a time, there was a widower hunter. He had a daughter named Kout El-kloub. After his wife’s death, the hunter got married to another woman and he gave birth of another daughter named Enad. The new wife treated Kout El-kloub badly and she let her do everything in the house. On the other hand, she treated Enad in a good way as she spoiled her. The two sisters grew up together and the hatred towards Kout increased.
One day, the stepmother told Kout to go to the ghoul that lived in the forest and to get a bolter to sieve out flour. Kout went to ghoul’s house. As she was walking, she met a palm tree. Kout said:” Peace be upon you. Your height is magnificent”. The palm tree said:” peace be upon you too Kout. May god make your hair as long as my height! At the very moment, Kout’s black hair grew long and it reached to her ankles.
Kout preceded walking until she saw roses tree. Kout said: “Hello roses’ tree. The roses are beautifully red!” The tree said: “peace be upon you. May God make your cheeks as red as my roses”. Immediately, Kout’s cheeks became as red as the roses. Kout preceded walking until she met a Sesame vendor who had his vehicle overturned and the sesame was thrown everywhere. Kout helped him in gathering the thrown sesame. After they finished, the vendor thanked her and he filled her pockets with sesame.
Finally, Kout reached to the ghoul’s house. Kout found the ghoul sitting in front of the house. The ghoul’s hair was curly. Kout said: “Peace be upon you ghoul”. The ghoul said:” If you didn’t say peace at first, I would eat you. What do you want?” Kout replied gently:” I want to borrow your bolter”. The ghoul asked Kout to clean the house at first and Kout did. The ghoul asked Kout to clean her head from lice. Kout sat down and she put some sesame in her lap. Kout chew sesame and she pretended that it was the ghoul’s lice. Kout was cleaning the ghoul head and saying:” your lice taste delicious”. The ghoul was satisfied of Kout and she guided her to a well. The ghoul said:” oh, well. Give Kout diamonds and jewelry”. The ghoul took diamonds and jewelry and gave them to kout. The ghoul gave Kout the bolter too
Kout returned home with her long hair and her red lovely cheeks. She was wearing diamonds and jewelry. Her stepmother asked her: “where did you get those things?” Kout said:” The ghoul gave me those things”. The stepmother thought that she might send her daughter to the ghoul’s house to get bolter and jewelry.
The next day, Enad went to the ghoul’s house. While she was walking, she met a palm tree. Enad said:” What a silly tall tree”. The palm tree said:” May god make your legs as long as my height! At the very moment, Enad’s legs grew until they became as long as a palm tree. Enad preceded walking until she saw roses tree. Enad said: “The roses are red and ugly!” The tree said: ” May God make your eyes as red as my roses”. Immediately, Enad’s eyes became as red as the roses.
Enad preceded walking until she met a Sesame vendor who had his vehicle overturned and the sesame was thrown everywhere. The vendor asked her to help him. Enad said: “No way, I may get late” Finally, Enad reached to the ghoul’s house. Enad found the ghoul sitting in front of the house. The ghoul’s hair was curly. Enad said arrogantly: “My mother sent me to return the bolter that my sister borrowed yesterday “. The ghoul asked Enad to clean the house at first and Enad refused. Enad said:” I don’t clean houses. Get a maid to get it cleaned.” The ghoul asked Enad to clean her head from lice. Enad said:” This is disgusting. You are a dirty old woman. Look for someone else! “. The ghoul got mad and she guided her to a well. The ghoul said:” oh, well. Give Enad scorpions and beetles”. The ghoul said:” you are a selfish girl. Go home before I eat you”.
Enad returned home with her long legs and her red eyes. Scorpions and beetles were stuck in her hair. Days passed, Kout became more beautiful and many men proposed to her. She got married to a man whom she loved. Kout lived happily with her husband and they had many kids. On the other hand, Enad stayed unmarried and she regretted her deeds.
